Built in the 1930s it is a historical building. We appreciated the historical nature of the building but it might not be everyone's cup of tea. The facilities offered in this hotel are amazing. It is cavernous though and we failed to find the restaurant on our tired arrival ('They actually have maps at reception LOL). We found a snack in a nice little cafe called "Morsels" instead, where we had a great exchange with two members of staff which was a great start to our stay. The staff throughout the hotel, from reception (including a couple of delightful Dutch interns), Morsels, the dining room and the room attendant were extremely approachable and attentive. The staff were all immaculately dressed. I was in fact mistaken for a member of staff because I was dressed up for a wedding...lol Most of the guests could have been better dressed for breakfast though... It is undoubtedly hard to maintain 5* standard of decor with such an old property, but great effort has been made. Our King room, apparently an upgrade, had everything we needed and was very comfortable. What I liked most about the hotel was their flexible approach to our one night (to attend a wedding) stay. - We arrived around 11am. Rooms were normally available around 2pm, but we discovered they would make a room available to us immediately. - We needed breakfast and, although the restaurant officially ceased breakfast at 11am, the receptionist called them and they were prepared to still serve us just before 11:30am. - We needed parking there from 11am through the night and the next day until about 4pm and this was attended to with the single Valet charge. - The valets were all great and even parked our van on the front forecourt. This was useful for fast access to our vehicle. - The valets definitely keep a sharp eye on the vehicles too. Every time I went to the vehicle I was challenged by one of them as they did not take on board that we actually had two keys LOL!

Nothing really. You must make allowances for the age of the property i.e. Outlets on the floor etc. A bit more coffee, including decaf, in the rooms would have been nice.

A relaxing stay at a well located DC hotel with pool and spacious rooms.

Beautiful Hotel with a Great Location We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The property is beautiful and has been very well maintained, restored, and thoughtfully updated while preserving its historic character. Built in the 1920s, the hotel has a wonderful sense of history without feeling dated. The lobby was bright, clean, and inviting, and we especially enjoyed the live music that was offered at several times throughout the day. The windows and chandeliers were absolutely stunning and added so much character to the space. The location was another highlight. The hotel is situated in a peaceful neighborhood, but still within easy reach of restaurants, shops, attractions, and other things to do, making it a very convenient place to stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and exactly as described in the booking information, which was much appreciated. We also really enjoyed the breakfast—it was delicious and a great way to start the day. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful, historic property in a convenient location.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but the level of customer service was inconsistent. The front desk, main restaurant, and housekeeping staff were all very friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience with some of the other staff did not meet the standard I would expect from a higher-end resort. The valet staff felt a little pushy and rushed us out of the car when we arrived to check in, which was not the most welcoming first impression. The spa/pool staff was particularly disappointing. When we arrived to check in for the pool and get our towels, we were not acknowledged or welcomed, and we were left waiting for almost 15 minutes while the staff member was assisting another guest. I completely understand that he was helping someone else and did not expect immediate assistance, but a simple acknowledgment that we would be helped shortly would have made a big difference. When we were eventually assisted, he seemed annoyed by our questions and did not provide any information about the facilities. The pool itself was very nice, but the pool bar was significantly understaffed for a Saturday, with only one bartender and one cook serving a large number of guests. We waited close to 20 minutes in line just to order one drink. Overall, there were definitely some highlights to our stay, particularly the friendly front desk, restaurant, and housekeeping teams. However, given the resort's higher-end positioning, I expected a more consistent level of hospitality and customer service across the property.

The lobby and grounds were beautiful. They had music and complimentary snacks and drinks. The pool was very nice as well.

At times we waited 15 minutes for the elevator as it was very small and there were 10+ people waiting at all times.
