The vicinity to the Everglades and the Miami Airport is great.

− Staff at the grab and go bar was rude and the absence of a pool was disappointing. But I know they are renovating the pool area.

Good accommodations, poor treatment of guests with families

We stayed at Miccosukee Hotel because our children’s karate tournament was being held there. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and met our expectations. Unfortunately, the way we were treated by the security staff completely ruined our experience. On multiple occasions, we were treated disrespectfully simply because we were traveling with children. At one point, we walked over to the bar area to watch the soccer game from the hallway—not inside the bar—and were told we couldn’t even stand there because we had kids with us. We understood that it is a casino and respected that, but we were not in a restricted area. Security then directed us to the second floor, saying it was an open area where the children could gather. We had a group of about 15 kids, all participants in the karate tournament, accompanied by their parents. The children were simply playing together, not disturbing guests, damaging property, or behaving inappropriately. Despite this, security repeatedly approached us and told us to stop. The most disappointing part was the attitude of the security staff. Instead of trying to help, they repeatedly told us it was “common sense” that children shouldn’t be at a casino hotel. When we politely asked if there was any appropriate place where the kids could spend time together, we were told to keep them locked in our rooms or leave the property. One security officer even threatened to issue us a trespass warning, again saying we should have “common sense.” The hotel knew it would be hosting a karate tournament with many families and children staying on the property. If Miccosukee Hotel is not equipped or willing to accommodate families, it should clearly market itself as an adults-only property or avoid hosting family-oriented events. The rooms were good, but customer service and hospitality were terrible. Families traveling with children should be aware that they may not feel welcome here.
